Message from the President: SNC Day 2013
Aug. 26, 2013To our alumni friends:
Today is the first day of this academic year and the campus is full of energy and buzzing with activity.
We look forward to keeping these high spirits going and we invite you to join us for the fifth annual SNC Day on Saturday, September 21. This family-friendly campus open house is free and open to the public.
This year will be the second annual Donald Schneider Memorial 5k Challenge Run. Be sure to sign up for this fun race with obstacles. You can register at the SNC Day website or at Schuldes Sports Center the evening before or morning of the race. All participants receive a long-sleeved T-shirt with a logo designed by students in the SNC art department. Registration fee is only $15.
This year we’re hosting Segway tours of campus and the surrounding area. You’ll get a great view of the college as you “glide” across the bridge. We’ll also again have boat rides on the Fox River, trolley rides to Schneider Stadium to catch the SNC vs Ripon College football game, and horse-drawn wagon rides. Some of our most respected faculty will be giving mini-lectures on wide-ranging topics — from “Why You Have No Time” to “Physics and Photography.”
In addition, there will be three stages of music featuring some of the region’s most popular bands — Big Mouth, Boogie and the Yo-Yo’z, Unity the Band, Sawdust Symphony, Jerry Voelker and the Jolly Gents, Frogwater, a strolling bagpiper and barbershop quartet and our very own Knights on Broadway.
Campus buildings will be open for tours and we’d love for you to see some of the newest additions to the college. Dudley Birder Hall, the new 200-seat performance venue, will host one of the three music stages; the Cassandra Voss Center, which is home to the women’s and men’s initiatives, will host the Midwest launch of GoldieBlox, and the inventor of this toy for young girls aspiring to be engineers will be on hand for the event; and you must see the newly completed Mulva Studio, a creative student study space in the lower level of the Mulva Library.
There will be loads of activities for kids including face painting, inflatables, balloon artists and more. Other events include an international marketplace, art and craft vendors, and activities in the Carol and Robert Bush Art Center. The wellness area will feature Zumba, hula hooping, Jazzercise and the Packerland Kennel Therapy Dogs. Food, beverages and ice cream treats will be offered at several campus locations.
There will be food and fun for all, and we hope you’ll pack up the family on Sept. 21 and join us for this very special day on the St. Norbert College campus. A complete list of activities can be found at the SNC Day 2013 website.
