Bill Van Ess has been an insurance and financial advisor since 1988 and is an active participant in the industry on a local and national basis. After earning his BBA (IBLAS/Spanish) here at St. Norbert College in 1985, he went on to earn his MBA from UW-Oshkosh while working full-time. He entered the financial services world in 1988. He has held numerous positions in the financial services industry including owning his own insurance/financial services firm for 10 years.

He has also earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from The College of FinancialPlanning and the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designations from The American College… in addition to 5 other industry designations.

During his career he has consistently ranked among the top 3% of insurance/financial advisors in the world and twice ranked in the top 1% as reported by The Million Dollar Round Table, the premier association for financial service professionals - he enjoys sharing the opportunities of this often overlooked market segment with his students.

Bill has served as the President of the Green Bay Estate Planning Forum, the Financial Planning Association of Northeast Wis., The Society of Financial Service Professionals Northeast Wis., Optimist Club of West Green Bay and will become President of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors Northeast Wis. in 2013. He is also an active community volunteer currently serving or having served on numerous charitable organization boards. “Those who can, do… those who can do more, volunteer!”

Bill served as the President of the SNC Alumni Board for three years and currently represents SNC Alumni on the Board of Trustees. He has also been a member of the SNC President’s Task Force serving continuously for the last 3 presidents of the college.

When he’s not teaching or being an insurance/financial advisor, he enjoys spending time with his family, working out at the Y, biking, snowmobiling, boating, scuba diving, traveling, volunteering and spending time at his cottage.

He is honored to be able to give back to SNC in yet another way by sharing the insurance and financial services world and all of its many opportunities with our students. There are so many job opportunities in this marketplace and unfortunately students fail to even consider this field…

He is hoping to change that!
