Mark LaFortune is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt with UnitedHealth Group and has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years, focusing primarily on process design and reengineering, Quality Assurance and Project Management. Mark has led and facilitated cross-functional teams to solve problems, increase productivity and reduce operational costs. He has also served as a project manager, senior quality consultant and trainer. He earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Lakeland College and his M.S. in Organizational Leadership and Quality from Marian College. Mark is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (LSSMBB), Six Sigma Black Belt (SSBB), and a Project Management Professional (PMP).

Mark’s research interests include process design, quality assurance, continuous improvement, Project Management, and Lean and Six Sigma. He is also an active member of the American Society of Quality. Personal interests include mountain biking and snow biking, travel, enjoying the outdoors and of course, the Green Bay Packers.

Mark believes Nelson Mandela said it best “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
