Become a Tutor
Qualifications:
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above
- Excellent knowledge of the subject and mastery of the required skills
- Ability to explain information clearly
- Effective personal time management
- Good interpersonal skills
- Desire to assist peers
Responsibilities:
- Complete tutor training for certification
- Establish a reliable phone system
- Contact assigned students promptly
- Meet regularly with assigned students
- Read College e-mails regularly
- Prepare for tutoring sessions
- Assist students with effective study strategies
- Maintain tutor records and turn them in bi-weekly
- Attend tutor meetings
After hire:
- Fill out employment forms with Financial Aid if you have not worked on campus before. A driver’s license and social security card are needed.
- Hand in current schedule
- Read tutor handbook
- Meet with associate director for review
- Complete current tutor date sheet
- Complete video training modules
