Dr. John R. Minahan Stadium
History
The 3,100 capacity stadium was a gift from Dr. John R. Minahan of Green Bay, a noted physician and close friend of St. Norbert College founder, Abbot Bernard H. Pennings. Dr. Minahan's friendship with the Rev. Thomas G. Fox, O.Praem., the College's athletic director, and Dr. Minahan's interest in St. Norbert College sports prompted the gift.
Dedicated in 1937, the facility is one of only two lighted football fields in the Midwest Conference. The Green Knights traditionally play their first home game each fall under the lights.
Stadium Facilities
Alongside the stadium is the St. Norbert College soccer facility, which was constructed in the early 1980's. The facility includes one practice field and one game field. The game field includes dugouts and an electronic scoreboard.
The grandstand for the stadium is located on the south side of the field and is constructed of all steel. The stadium includes a spacious two-level press box and has room for portable bleachers on the stadium's north side.
The stadium's playing field consists of a tapered field and a drainage system buried in a two-foot base of stones, gravel and supporting soil. The 11-acre site of the stadium is located on Riverside Drive in De Pere, about one mile from St. Norbert campus, and was formerly the site of the De Pere Polo Field.
