St. Norbert College Hockey School

Become a more dynamic player at northeast Wisconsin’s longest-running hockey school!

Boys and girls ages 4-12 can develop their skills in this one-week program. At the rink, in the classroom and in the fitness room, participants will learn how to excel on ice.

All scheduled camps to be held at:

Sessions include power skating, puck skills and game situations in a school taught for more than 25 years by the area's most experienced instructors. Current and former staff members include:

  • Tim Coghlin, St. Norbert Men’s Hockey head coach
  • Andy Brandt, St. Norbert Men’s Hockey associate head coach
  • Mike Szkodzinski, Lawrence University head coach
  • Luke Strand, Sioux City, USHL
  • Amy Brolsma, Power Skating
  • Current St. Norbert College players and staff

Snacks and a catered lunch will also be provided. Awards will follow a game during the last ice session.

Players School

Northeast Wisconsin’s Premier Players Hockey School

Monday, July 16-Friday, July 20, 2018
  • Group 1: Peewees (born in 2006 or 2007), 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Group 2: Squirts (born in 2008 or 2009), 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Group 3: Mites (born in 2010 or 2011), 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Cost: $425 (includes daily snack, lunch and jersey)

Groups are limited to the first 30 skaters per age.

Cost for goalies is $250, or $100 if they are also attending Goalie School AND participating as a goaltender in this camp.

Hockey School Advantages

Basic fundamentals and skills instruction 
Skating, passing, shooting and team play, and the correct methods for receiving and giving stick and body checks. Specialized power-skating training, featuring rigorous, challenging exercises.

Controlled scrimmages 
All scrimmages will be instructor-supervised and offer opportunities for application of learned techniques and team concepts.

Game and awards
Regulation game complete with referees, coaches and timekeepers during the last ice session on Friday. Report cards will be awarded to each participant upon the completion of the week.

Skills competition 
Competitions will include accuracy shooting, fastest skater and hardest shot (tested by radar). Showdown finals will be during the intermission on game day.

Off-ice physical fitness and conditioning
Planned exercises and workouts to improve strength, endurance and general fitness. Calisthenics and circuit training, plus agility activities.

Classroom instruction
Review of proper equipment; care and prevention of injuries; nutrition; and off-ice training. Instructional films as well as individual video breakdown for each participant will also be shown.

Goaltending instruction
A special intensified program offered in morning sessions, featuring individual instruction by St. Norbert goaltending instructors.
