St. Norbert Wins Twice to Open Invitational Tournament

DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened its 2010 women's volleyball season with a pair of wins at its own invitational at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights topped Marian University 25-11, 25-13, 18-25, 29-27 and Finlandia University 25-10, 25-15, 25-27, 25-21 to stand as the only 2-0 team in the tournament. Marian, Northland College and Aurora University are all 1-1, while Finlandia is 0-2.

Against Marian, Sarah Sulentic led the way with 13 kills and eight blocks. Danielle Remy added eight kills with 11 blocks, and Mary Kate Manion had 10 kills. St. Norbert hit .184 for the match, with 45 kills and 17 errors in 152 attacks. The Green Knights had 11 service aces, with three apiece from Catherine Guido and Lauren Meehan.

Against Finlandia, St. Norbert got 13 kills from Remy and 10 from Meehan. The Green Knights hit .343 in the match, getting 46 kills against nine errors on 108 attempts. St. Norbert had 12 service aces, led by five from Guido, but had 16 service errors. Remy had seven blocks and Sulentic added six blocks.
