Scherer Sets Course Record as St. Norbert Cruises to Tom Barry Invite Title

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College senior Jenny Scherer reclaimed the course record and led the Green Knights to the team championship of the Tom Barry Invitational at Colburn Park.

Scherer covered the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 40 seconds to win by over a minute and a half. Scherer's jaunt topped the mark set in 2009 by Carroll University's Megan O'Grady, who ran a 17:47. Scherer previously held the record with a run of 18:04 in 2008.

St. Norbert easily won the team championship with a total of 28 points. The St. Norbert alumni team was second with 84 points, while the College of St. Scholastica was third with 91 points.

Kelsey Timm finished seventh with a time of 19:30, and Carrie Trina was ninth with a run of 20:00. Hannah Andrekus was 11th in 10:18, and Elvia Martinez was 12th in 20:22.

Also finishing in the top 50 for St. Norbert were Erika Quinn's 21:00 to place 26th, Kaylee Beck's 21:15 to finish 33rd, Erin McShea's 21:27 to finish 39th and Melissa Menne's 22:02 to finish 48th.

Trisha Feldhausen was the top alumni runner, finishing eighth overall with a time of 19:52.
