Green Knights Fall in Season Opener at Concordia

MEQUON - A Concordia (Wis.) University goal in the final 20 minutes was the difference as St. Norbert College fell to the host Falcons 2-1 in its season opener.
St. Norbert carried a 1-1 tie into the second half, but couldn't score despite outshooting Concordia 9-6 in the final 45 minutes and 15-11 for the game.
Lauren Straehler opened the scoring for Concordia at the 16 minute 24 seconds mark, but St. Norbert's Caitlin Carrigan answered at 27:12 off an assist from Jaci Kulow. Straehler scored the game-winning goal in the 71st minute.
St. Norbert held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks, and Concordia outfouled the Green Knights 14-2.
Cara Tazioli made six saves for St. Norbert, while Mary Ryan and Samantha Anacker combined for nine saves for the Falcons.
