Van Handel's Win Lifts St. Norbert Past Carroll

GREEN BAY - Kelly Van Handel's win at No. 1 singles lifted St. Norbert College to a 5-4 win over Carroll University in a Midwest Conference North Division match at the Green Bay Tennis Center.
The win came in St. Norbert's MWC North opener, and moved them to 3-1 overall. Carroll fell to 2-3, 0-2.
Van Handel dropped the first set to Carroll's Kate Rasmussen 6-3 before ekeing out the second set 7-6 (10-8). Van Handel then won the decisive third set 6-3 to seal the win and the match.
St. Norbert claimed four of six singles points. Callie Schroeder beat Elissa McKinley 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3, and Ariel Bloniarz beat Kate Wiseman 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4. Brittany Dudzik topped Megan Rosenberg 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 at No. 6.
Maria Slusarek and Laura Michel beat Kara Paroubek and Rosenberg 8-4 at No. 2 doubles for the only St. Norbert point in doubles action.
