DE PERE - The St. Norbert College women's cross country team was ranked in the Midwest Region for the first time by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Green Knights are ranked eighth in this week's ranking. Washington (Mo.) University is ranked No. 1. St. Norbert passed Illinois Wesleyan University and Wheaton College, who dropped one spot each to ninth and tenth, respectively.

St. Norbert moved up on the basis of a strong showing at the Augustana College Brissman-Lundeen Invitational this past Friday. The Green Knights placed fifth among 24 teams on the course where the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional will be held in November.

In St. Norbert's first two meets of the season, it won the St. Norbert Tom Barry Invitational and placed second to the University of Wisconsin at the Northern Illinois University Huskie Open.

The Green Knights, who are idle this weekend, are next in action on Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Wartburg College Pre-Nationals Meet in Waverly, Iowa.
