Green Knights Top Ripon to Win MWC Opener

RIPON - St. Norbert College won its Midwest Conference opener with a four-set win over Ripon College at the Storzer Center.

The Green Knights (14-4, 1-0) beat the Red Hawks 25-17, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23 to extend their Midwest Conference regular-season winning streak to 21 matches.

St. Norbert had a balanced offense throughout the match, getting 12 kills in each of the first three sets and then getting 15 in the clinching fourth set. The Green Knights hit .182 for the match, getting 51 kills with 24 errors in 148 attempts.

Lauren Meehan led St. Norbert with 13 kills, while Danielle Remy added 11 and Sarah Sulentic 10 with six blocks. Abby West had 37 assists. Defensively, St. Norbert posted 86 digs, getting 25 from Catherine Guido and 19 from Meehan.

Ripon (9-13, 0-1) was held to a .119 hitting percentage (51-30-176), and was led by Anna Alvin's 21 kills.
