St. Norbert Closes Out Regular Season With Win Over UW-Stevens Point

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College closed out the regular season with a 7-2 non-conference win over UW-Stevens Point at the Green Bay Tennis Center.

The Green Knights head into Friday's Midwest Conference Team Championship Tournament against Grinnell College with a 7-5 overall record. UW-Stevens Point dropped to 4-6.

St. Norbert opened the match with a sweep of the three doubles points. Kelly Van Handel and Callie Schroeder topped Rachel Brown and Taylor Weuve 8-5 at No. 1, while Maria Slusarek and Laura Michel beat Katelyn Presti and Leah Benn 8-6 at No. 2. Stephanie Marek and Jackie Wronkowski defeated Monica Preisig and Allison Fortier by an 8-4 count at No. 3.

The Green Knights' top four singles flights also won. Van Handel claimed a 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 win over Brown at No. 1, followed by Slusarek's 6-1, 6-3 win over Weuve at No. 2. Schroeder followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Presti and No. 3, and Ariel Bloniarz topped Preisig 4-6, 6-1, 10-2 at No. 4.
