St. Norbert Takes Tumble at Bethel

BLAINE, Minn. - St. Norbert College fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 6-3 loss to Bethel University in a non-conference game at Bethel University Arena.

St. Norbert, which beat Bethel 2-0 in its inaugural game last Friday, fell to 2-2 on the year. The Royals improved to 2-2.

Bethel took a 2-0 lead early in the first period on goals by Kassy Sullivan and Cristina Masten at 7:52 and 8:56, respectively. Karissa Anderson scored at 12:03 to cut the first-period deficit to 2-1.

The Royals' Sarah Kartak scored unassisted at 7:20 of the second period to take a 3-1 lead, but Anderson scored on the power-play at 11:40 to cut it to 3-2. Masten would put the Royals back ahead by two at 14:33.

Allison Papko gave Bethel a 5-2 lead at 9:38 of the third, and Lauren Straus scored unassisted at 14:22 for St. Norbert. Bethel's Rachel Geng added an empty-net goal at with 28 seconds left.

Bethel outshot St. Norbert 40-32. The Green Knights were 1-for-6 on the power play and the Royals were 0-for-5. Katie Aluia made 34 stops for St. Norbert, while Jess Newstrom made 29 saves for Bethel.
