St. Norbert Rally Falls Short at UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT - St. Norbert College twice tried to rally from two-goal deficits but fell short in a 4-2 loss to UW-Stevens Point in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Ice Hawks Arena.

The Green Knights fell to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the NCHA, while Stevens Point remained unbeaten at 5-0 overall and 1-0 in league action.

Stevens Point led 1-0 after the first period on a goal by Erika Greenen. The Pointers added to their lead at 7:48 of the second period on a goal by Allie Tanzer. Megan Steinmetz scored shorthanded for St. Norbert at the 12:32 mark to cut the deficit at the end of two periods at 2-1.

Tanzer scored at 4:58 of the third period to put the Pointers back ahead by two goals. Karissa Anderson scored shorthanded at 6:59 to bring the Green Knights back to within one at 3-2, but Sarah Dusold's empty-net goal with 1:23 left to play sealed the win for the Pointers.

Stevens Point outshot St. Norbert 35-22. Kaley Gibson made 31 saves for St. Norbert, which was 0-for-5 on the power play. Staci Pomering made 20 saves for the Pointers, who were 0-for-7 on the power play.
