St. Norbert Throttles Grinnell

DE PERE - St. Norbert College led by 29 points at halftime and went on to rout Grinnell College 88-46 in a Midwest Conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights, who have now won 27 consecutive regular-season home games, are now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the MWC. Grinnell dropped to 1-3, 0-1.

St. Norbert opened the game with a 10-0 lead and eventually pushed the lead out to 26-5 with 8 minutes 24 seconds left in the first half on a layup by Krista Hawkinson. The Green Knights led 46-17 at halftime, finished off by Krista Pelky 3-pointer, an Erin Baganz steal and a Stefanie Bunday layup in the final 9 seconds of the first half.

Pelky scored 15 of her game-high 18 points in the first half. Bunday added 17 points, Jamie Kuhl 14 and Hawkinson 10. The Green Knights shot 48.4 percent (30-for-62) from the floor and 20-for-25 (80 percent) at the free-throw line.

Grinnell was led by Jessica Vaverka's 10 points. The Pioneers shot 28.6 percent (14-for-49) from the floor for the game.
