Green Knights Put the Clamps on Monmouth

DE PERE - St. Norbert College put on a defensive clinic to go on to claim a 66-33 Midwest Conference win over Monmouth College on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights, who have won their last 28 regular-season home games, improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the MWC. Monmouth fell to 2-3, 1-1.

St. Norbert made just 11 of 38 (28.9 percent) shots in the first half but was able to hold a 28-10 halftime lead thanks to outstanding defense. The Green Knights held the Scots to 4 of 18 (22.2 percent) in the first half, and Monmouth didn't reach double digits until 1 minute 11 seconds remained in the first half.

The Green Knights also owned the rebounding battle, grabbing 49 rebounds to Monmouth's 32. St. Norbert snared 24 offensive rebounds.

Jamie Kuhl led St. Norbert with 14 points and nine rebounds. Stefanie Bunday and Krista Pelky each had 13 points, while Erin Baganz added 10. The Green Knights shot 21-for-68 (30.9 percent) from the floor.

Monmouth, which had 27 turnovers, was led by Haley Jones and Marla Willard, who each had six points. The Scots finished 12-for-41 from the floor (29.3 percent).
