DE PERE - St. Norbert College won by its largest margin in school history when it defeated Rockford College 84-35 in a first-round game of the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament at Schuldes Sports Center. The Green Knights will face St. John's University in the championship game at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30.

St. Norbert's 49-point win broke the old school mark for largest win of 46, set in a 94-48 win over Concordia (Wis.) University on Jan. 2, 1984. The Regents' 35 points was also the fewest for a St. Norbert opponent since a 30-8 loss to UW-Green Bay on Feb. 7, 1973.

The Green Knights scored on the game's first posession on a 3-pointer by Eric Bieniasz. St. Norbert would lead 45-16 at halftime and would eventually lead by 50 late in the contest.

St. Norbert shot 62.7 percent from the floor in the win, making 32 of 51 shots. Fourteen players scored for St. Norbert, and 17 saw action. Bieniasz scored 15 points in 18 minutes, while Rob Durrett scored 12 points off the bench. Dave Wipperfurth and Ryan Finneke each had nine points apiece.

Rockford, which made just 12 of 50 field goal attempts (24 percent), was led by Ed Thomas' 11 points.
