St. Norbert Runs Past Carroll

DE PERE - St. Norbert College shot 53.8 percent from the floor en route to a 69-57 Midwest Conference win over Carroll University at Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights, ranked No. 25 by D3hoops.com, have won eight-straight games and are 10-1 overall and 6-0 in the MWC. Carroll fell to 7-3, 3-2 in its first non-overtime loss this season.

St. Norbert's Rachel Hermus matched a career-high in points with 26 and Jamie Kuhl pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds as the Green Knights connected on 28 of 52 field-goal attempts.

The Green Knights never trailed in the game, leading 16-5 just over eight minutes into the game. St. Norbert led 34-16 at halftime as Hermus posted 17 points by the break.

St. Norbert held a 23-point lead in the second half on two occasions, the last at 41-18 with 17:05 to go. But the Green Knights could not stop Carroll's Janelle Groer, who scored all 22 of her points in the second half.

Carroll worked the lead down to 56-49 with 7:27 left, but St. Norbert answered on baskets by Hermus and Stefanie Bunday to lead 60-49 with 5:54 left. The Pioneers would not get closer than nine points the rest of the way.

In addition to Hermus' big game, Krista Pelky had 15 points, and Kuhl and Bunday had 12 points apiece. Bunday dished out six assists.
