Green Knights Hold On Against Lake Forest

DE PERE - St. Norbert College saw a 16-point lead melt all the way down to three points by the Green Knights hung on to post a 66-59 Midwest Conference win over Lake Forest College on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights, ranked 24th in the D3hoops.com Top 25, improved to 13-2 overall and 9-1 in the MWC. Lake Forest dropped to 6-7, 4-4. The Green Knights have won 16 of their last 19 games in the series.

Stefanie Bunday's fastbreak layup with 12 minutes 57 seconds left put St. Norbert ahead 49-33. Lake Forest answered with a quick 8-0 run over the next 2:04 to trail 49-41 on an Emily Weber basket.

St. Norbert then climbed back ahead by 12 at 53-41 on a Bunday jumper, but the Green Knights would score just five points in the next seven minutes to hold a tenuous 58-57 lead with 2:10 to go.

Krista Pelky's 3-pointer from the right win with 1:54 left put the Green Knights ahead 61-58, and St. Norbert would finish off an 8-0 run with a pair of free throws by Jamie Kuhl, and a basket and free throw by Bunday.

Erin Baganz matched a career-high with 18 points to pace St. Norbert. Kuhl and Pelky each had 11 and Bunday chipped in 10. St. Norbert shot 20-for-54 (37 percent) from the floor but was 20-for-25 (80 percent) at the free-throw line.

Tabytha Harvey led Lake Forest with 24 points, getting 20 of her counters in the second half. Sam Schuring added 10 for the Foresters, who shot 23-for-59 (39 percent) from the floor.
