St. Norbert Pulls Away From Illinois College

DE PERE - St. Norbert College slowly pulled away from Illinois College in the second half and went on to stake a 65-52 Midwest Conference win on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights, ranked No. 24 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, improved to 14-2 overall and 10-1 in the MWC with the win. Illinois College dropped to 8-7, 6-4.

St. Norbert held just a 30-23 lead at halftime and led 35-27 with 17 minutes 3 seconds to go. St. Norbert would hold Illinois College to just two points over the next five-plus minutes to take a 46-29 advantage following a Jamie Kuhl basket, which capped an 11-2 St. Norbert run. The Lady Blues, who are the only MWC team to beat St. Norbert this season, never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.

Eleven different players scored for St. Norbert. Erin Baganz led St. Norbert with 14 points, while Kuhl added 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Green Knights were 24-for-63 (38.1 percent) from the floor.

Rachel Macon had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Blues, who had 20 turnovers. Illinois College shot 35.3 percent (18-for-51) from the floor and did not make a 3-pointer in three attempts.
