St. Norbert Tops Finlandia as Eight Different Players Score Goals

HANCOCK, Mich. - St. Norbert College snapped a five-game winless streak in commanding fashion with a commanding 9-1 win over Finlandia University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Houghton County Ice Arena.

The Green Knights improved to 8-9-3 overall and 5-7-3 in the NCHA in winning its first game since a 3-1 win over Lake Forest College on Jan. 8. Finlandia remained winless on the year, dropping to 0-17, 0-13.

St. Norbert scored three times in the first period, getting goals from Taylor Giacin, Zoe Kurth and Karissa Anderson within 2 minutes 5 seconds of each other midway through the first period. Anderson's goal was a power-play goal.

Tarraneh Dadgar scored the Green Knights' lone goal in the second period. Alexa Jacobson scored 2:50 into the third period for a 5-0 lead, and Danielle Rozon added an unassisted goal at 7:53.

Henriette Ostergaard scored a power-play goal at 10:37, and Finlandia countered at 11:10 on a score by Alisha Ellertson. Megan Steinmetz scored a power-play goal at 14:35, and Giacin scored again at 17:26 to complete the scoring.

Steinmetz added two assists for a three-point game, while Giacin had one helper to also give her a three-point outing. Lauren Straus also had two assists.

St. Norbert outshot Finlandia 39-13. Mandy Montgomery made 12 saves for the Green Knights. Ashley Pavlish worked the first 51:10 for the Lions and made 27 saves, while Stephanie LaMore finished up to make three saves.

St. Norbert was 3-for-6 on the power play, while Finlandia was 0-2.
