Green Knights Skate to 3-3 Stalemate With Blugolds

EAU CLAIRE - St. Norbert College picked up a 3-3 tie at UW-Eau Claire in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Hobbs Ice Center.

The Green Knights, now 17-3-1 overall and 11-2-1 in the NCHA, moved five points ahead of second-place UW-Superior in the league standings after the Yellowjackets fell to UW-Stout 1-0. St. Norbert could clinch the NCHA regular-season title and the No. 1 seeding in the NCHA Peters Cup Playoffs with a win over Superior Friday at the Cornerstone Community Center.

St. Norbert outshot Eau Claire 16-4 in the first period but only came out of the first 20 minutes tied at 1-1. Eau Claire's Kurt Weston scored 5 minutes 39 seconds into the game, but Johan Ryd responded with a power-play goal at 8:55 to knot the score.

The Blugolds' Tyler Romasco put his team ahead 2-1 at the 8:42 mark fo the second period, but St. Norbert's Kyle Stroh answered 48 seconds later to tie the score 2-2. Brandon Longley's team-high 11th goal of the year but the Green Knights ahead 3-2 at the 18:16 mark of the second.

Eau Claire's Jon Waggoner tied the score 7:12 into the third period, and the game would finish knotted at 3-

St. Norbert outshot Eau Claire 37-24. The Green Knights were 1-for-5 on the power play while the Blugolds were 0-for-6. B.J. O'Brien made 21 saves for St. Norbert while Brandon Stephenson made 34 stops for the Blugolds.
