Green Knights Open Men's Tennis Season 2-0

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College picked up a pair of wins to open the 2011 season with an 8-1 win over Wartburg College and a 6-3 win over Concordia University Wisconsin at Western Racquet.

The two matches were the first two duals played under first-year head coach Adam Albertsen.

St. Norbert swept the doubles points against Wartburg. Derek Harrington and Nick Acosta topped Chris Buckingham and Anthony Greco 8-3 at No. 1. Matt Lobeck and Danny Meicher topped Aaron Masterson and Blayne Willadsen 8-3 at No. 3.

In singles action, Acosta blanked Dayton Stevens 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Lobeck also pulled out a straight-set win with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph over Greco at No. 3.

Against Concordia, Harrington and Acosta needed a 9-8 (7-2) tiebreaker to top Brian Tresedder and Thao Lor at No. 1 doubles. Lobeck and Meicher beat Taylor Shaffer and Nathan Hoeppner 8-3 at No. 3.

Meicher beat Shaffer 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Lobeck topped Skip Turner 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, while Josh Sweere beat Lor 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
