Green Knights Pick Up Key Win Over St. Scholastica

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College moved two points closer to clinching a berth in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association O'Brien Cup Playoffs during its inaugural season with a 2-0 win over the College of St. Scholastica at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights, who have won three-straight games, are now 10-9-3 overall and 7-7-3 in the NCHA. St. Scholastica fell to 7-14-1, 5-11-1. St. Norbert needs just a tie against the Saints on Saturday to clinch a berth in the league tournament.

St. Norbert led 1-0 after a clean first period that features no penalties. Zoe Kurth registered her 10th goal of the season when a shot trickled past Saints goaltender Rachel Borchardt at the 16 minutes 54 seconds mark. Danielle Rozon and Karissa Anderson picked up assists on the goal.

Henriette Ostergaard's wrist shot at the 5:51 mark of the second period put the Green Knights ahead 2-0. Alexa Jacobson was credited with an assist.

St. Norbert killed off three St. Scholastica power plays in the third period and went on to post its third shutout in its last four games. Kaley Gibson made 22 saves to post her second shutout of the season. Borchardt made 30 saves for the Saints.

St. Scholastica was 0-for-5 on the power play, while St. Norbert was 0-for-2. The Green Knights improved their penalty kill to 91.9 percent.
