St. Norbert Splits, Ekes Out Win Over Simpson

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - St. Norbert College picked up its first win of the season on its third day of competition at the Rebel Spring Games. The Green Knights lost 8-0 to Illinois Wesleyan University before beating Simpson College 1-0. All three teams were NCAA Division III Tournament entrants a year ago.

The Green Knights (1-5) scored their run in the bottom of the sixth inning to snake out the win. With one out, Kristin Zimmerman reached on an error. After moving up to second on an infield grounder, Morgan Buboltz single drove in Zimmerman.

Kari Corbeille twirled the shutout, allowing four hits with four strikeouts while working around three walks and three St. Norbert errors. Buboltz finished the game 2-for-3 to lead St. Norbert, which had five hits.

Against 22nd-ranked Illinois Wesleyan (3-2), the Titans got four unearned runs in the first inning and two more unearned runs in the second to jump out to an early 6-0 lead.

St. Norbert had just three hits in the game. Jessica Kropp took the loss, going 3 1/3 innings allowing seven hits, one earned run and three walks.
