Green Knights Claim Wisconsin Lutheran Invite Title

WAUWATOSA - St. Norbert College won the men's championship of the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational at Raabe Stadium.

The Green Knights compiled a total of 241 points to finish well ahead of Ripon College's second-place total of 159 points.

Three St. Norbert thinclads won field events. Mike Verfuerth won the long jump with a leap of 21 feet 2 inches. Anthony Parker won the triple jump in 41-0 1/4. Jordan Gobert won the pole vault clearing 13-1 1/2.

Mackenzie Laska won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:16.18, while Verfuerth won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.44 seconds. Dann Schneider claimed the 400-meter dash with a spring of 49.02 seconds.

Benny Swift was second in the steeplechase in 10:47.43. Nathan Heppe was second in the 1,500-meter run in 4:12.46. Jordan Gobert was second in the 110 hurdles in 16.96 seconds, while Jake Schneider was third in the 400 in 51.93 seconds. Aaron Roden was second in the 5,000-meter run in 16:08.62, while David Prosper was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.91.

Joe McArdle was second in the shot put with a heave of 41-10 inches, while Kenny Oxendorf was second in the discus at 124-7. Parker was third in the long jump at 19-5 1/2, while Andrew Verfuerth was third in the triple jump at 38-9 1/2. Jake Day placed third in the pole vault at 11-1 3/4.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Ryan Ascher, Dann Schneider, Mike Linzmeier and David Mason won with a time of 3:24.70.
