Brunette Sets Season Hits Record as Green Knights Suffer Sweep at UW-Oshkosh

OSHKOSH - St. Norbert College sophomore shortstop Steph Brunette set the school season hits record in just her 24th game of the season, but the Green Knights were swept 9-2 and 3-2 in a non-conference doubleheader at UW-Oshkosh.
Brunette had three hits in the first game to give her 53 in her first 24 games this season. The mark passed the previous standard of 51, set in 41 games by Tracy Palmer last season. Brunette, who is hitting .581 (54-for-93) on the season, picked up another hit in the nightcap to up her total to 54.
St. Norbert took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the opener on a two-run double by Morgan Buboltz, but the Titans would score three times each in the second, third and fifth innings. The Green Knights committed six errors in the game. Brunette was 3-for-4 with two doubles, while Buboltz was 2-for-3 and Abby Van Straten was 3-for-3. Kari Corbeille took the loss, allowing nine hits and five unearned runs in the complete-game effort.
Brittany Narges scored on a wild pitch in the first inning of the nightcap, but the Titans tied it at one. Jamie Braden's two-run double in the fifth gave Oshkosh a 3-1 lead. St. Norbert answered with a Jessica Kropp home run with one out in the seventh, but couldn't get the tying run on base.
Kropp had the lone multi-hit game in the nightcap for St. Norbert, going 2-for-3. Kayla Krueger took the loss, allowing nine hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
