Sayen Selected for Upper Michigan Sports Hall of Fame

DE PERE - Longtime St. Norbert College football assistant coach Terry Sayen has been selected for induction in the 2012 Class of the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame.

Sayen, who has coached linebackers or defensive backs for the Green Knights since 1998, coached four sports at Munising (Mich.) High School. Sayen led the Mustangs to the MHSAA Class C state football championship in 1980 and compiled a 137-72 record in 26 seasons. He also coached basketball, track and golf and was the school's athletics director for 12 years. Sayen is also a member of the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Sayen is a native of Gwinn, Mich., and stood out in basketball and track, setting long jump and high jump records at Gwinn High School.

The induction banquet is scheduled for April 28, 2012 at Danforth Place in Escanaba, Mich.
