Green Knights Take Third at Marian Invitational

FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College opened the 2011-12 men's golf season with a third-place finish at the 36-hole Marian University Invitational held at Whispering Springs Golf Club.
The Green Knights shot a 649 to finish 18 strokes behind champion Carroll University, which shot a 631. Lakeland College took second with a 647. Carroll's Eric Busalacchi won the tournament with a nine-over par 153. A total of 41 golfers competed.
St. Norbert's Brandon Gries was the runner-up, finishing four strokes behind Busalacchi with a 78-79--157. The Green Knights' Evan Mass finished in a fifth-place tie in his first collegiate meet, shooting an 83-76--159.
Jacob Hebbard fired a 164 to finish in a tenth-place tie, shooting an 82 both rounds. Nic Vrubley finished in a 17th-place tie with an 84-85--169. Nick Roelse tied for 23rd wtih a 92-85--177.
