St. Norbert Picks Up Two Wins to Finish Weekend 4-1

MADISON - St. Norbert College won a pair of non-conference dual meets with an 8-1 triumph over Edgewood College and a 7-2 decision over UW-Stout at Rennebohm Park. The Green Knights finished a grueling five matches over three days with a 4-1 record.

The Green Knights swept all three doubles points to get off to a good start against Edgewood (10-3). Kelly Van Handel and Nancy Chybowski beat Taylor Storbakken and Kristen Boone 8-1 at No. 1. Marian Slusarek and Laura Michel topped Kelly Olia and Laura Olsen 8-4 at No. 2, followed by Callie Schroeder and Maggie Berens with an 8-1 win over Kristal Kryshak and Jessica Cihlar.

Van Handel defeated Shae Beckwith 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Chybowski beat Storbakken 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2. Ariel Bloniarz beat Olia 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4, and Anna Reardon swept Kristen Boone 6-2, 6-2. Slusarek beat Kryshak 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

St. Norbert took two of three doubles points against Stout. Slusarek and Michel beat Sammie Swanson and Emily Grossen 8-2 at No. 2, and Schroeder and Berens topped Stephanie Schick and Michelle Counsell 8-2 at No. 3. The tandem of Schroeder and Berens improved to 7-1 on the year with the win.

Reardon improved to a team-best 9-2 in singles action with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 win over Swanson at No. 5 singles. Sulsarek beat Elizabeth Lehnertz 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6. Chybowski moved to 8-3 during her freshman season with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Schick at No. 2. Schroeder beat Katie Sorensen 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3, and Bloniarz defeated Grossen 7-6 (7-0), 6-2) at No. 4.
