DE PERE - St. Norbert College is in position to win its second Midwest Conference title in four years after an important 2-0 win over Carroll University at Kolstad Field at Schneider Stadium.

St. Norbert (10-7-1) finished 7-1-1 in the MWC, and can potentially finish in a three-way tie with Carroll and Grinnell. Carroll plays at Lake Forest on Sunday, while Grinnell hosts Ripon and Knox this weekend. If the three-way tie occurs, the three teams will share the conference title and St. Norbert will host the MWC Tournament next weekend by winning a goal-differential tiebreaker. If Carroll loses or ties to Lake Forest and Grinnell wins twice, Grinnell will win the league title and host. If Grinnell loses or ties either of its two matches St. Norbert is the outright champion and will host.

St. Norbert took control of the match early, when Katherine Larson and Stephanie Pedretti got past the Carroll defense. Larson took a pass from Pedretti and cashed in on the 2-on-the-goaltender chance at the 3 minutes 57 seconds mark for an early 1-0 lead.

The Green Knights made it 2-0 at 35:16 when Jaci Kulow served a corner kick right in front of the goal mouth and Zoe Kurth headed it in.

Carroll had two quality scoring chances in the match, but one shot rang the post and another jettisoned off the crossbar to maintain the key two-goal margin.

The Pioneers outshot the Green Knights 15-10, with a 9-3 edge coming in the second half. Both teams had four corner kicks. Sarah Platzer made five saves for St. Norbert, while Taylor McLean had four stops for Carroll.
