St. Norbert Gets Tripped at UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT - St. Norbert College suffered a 5-1 loss to UW-Stevens Point in its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opener at Willett Arena.
Both teams are 1-1 overall heading into the back end of the home-and-home series at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Cornerstone Community Center.
Stevens Point got the early jump in taking a 2-0 lead. Kyle Heck scored twice in the first period, netting goals at 7:06 and 14:08.
The Green Knights countered early in the second when Cullen Bradshaw scored his first collegiate goal by netting a power-play marker at the 3:46 mark. Stevens Point scored a crippling goal with 16 seconds left in the second period when Sean McNeely's power-play goal let the Pointers take a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.
The Green Knights had three power-play chances in the third period to try and draw closer but came up empty. Nick Kenney and Heck scored at 12:52 and 18:34 of the third to ice the game for the Pointers.
Stevens Point outshot the Green Knights 23-21. Nick Graves made 20 saves for Stevens Point, while Travis Bosch made 18 stops for the Green Knights. St. Norbert was 1-for-7 on the power play, while Stevens Point was 1-for-5.
