MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College held Monmouth College to just two points over the first 13 minutes of the game en route to a 68-38 Midwest Conference road win at Glennie Gym.

The Green Knights (4-2, 2-0 MWC) jumped out to a 19-2 lead to start the game over Monmouth (2-3, 1-1). The two teams met in last season's Midwest Conference Tournament championship game, which St. Norbert won 56-54 in overtime.

St. Norbert's impressive defensive effort was boosted by senior guard Krista Pelky, who pumped in 23 points. Pelky scored 18 of her points in the first half as the Green Knights built a 36-15 lead at intermission.

Pelky canned four 3-pointers in the last 6:25 of the first half and also made all three free throws when fouled in the act of shooting early in the game. Pelky connected on all six of her three-point field goals attempts in the game and was a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.

St. Norbert shot 42-6 percent (23-for-54) from the floor. Tasha Giese finished with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Morgan Heim added nine points and five rebounds off the bench for St. Norbert, which held a 46-32 rebounding advantage.

Monmouth made just 12 of 54 (22.2 percent) field goals. Marla Willard led the Scots with eight points and 10 rebounds.
