DE PERE - St. Norbert College is the last unbeaten team in the Midwest Conference standings following a 61-53 win over Lake Forest College on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights opened up a 1 1/2-game lead on the rest of the conference with the win, improving to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in the MWC. Lake Forest dropped to 4-4, 3-1.

St. Norbert found a way to pull out the win after seeing a 13-point lead early in the second half dwindle down to a 1-point deficit with 4 minutes 40 seconds to go. A pair of Krista Hawkinson free throws put St. Norbert up 37-24 just 17 seconds into the second half, but Lake Forest held the Green Knights to just 11 points over the next 15 minutes. The Foresters' Liz Radtke canned a jumper with 4:40 left put Lake Forest up 49-48 with 4:40 to go.

The Green Knights then went on a 6-1 run over the next 2 minutes to take a 54-50 lead with 2:32 to go. Hawkinson made four free throws and Sara Van Hemelryk made a pair of charity tosses during the run. Rose Coll's putback for Lake Forest brought it within 54-52 with 2:13 left, but Hawkinson's layup with 1:19 to go put the Green Knights ahead by four and sealed the win.

Hawkinson finished with a career-high 22 points, and was 14-for-17 at the free-throw line. Tasha Giese finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Krista Pelky added 11 points and Jamie Kuhl 10 for the Green Knights, who shot 38.6 percent (17-for-44) from the floor, but were 26-for-35 (74.3 percent) at the free-throw line.

Radtke led the Foresters with 16 points, while Gina Ambrose made 13 points and Sam Schuring added 10. Lake Forest shot 32.1 percent (18-for-56) from the floor but outrebounded the Green Knights 41-31.
