Green Knights Fall to Lake Forest

DE PERE - St. Norbert College shot 32.8 percent from the floor to drop a 59-52 Midwest Conference decision to Lake Forest College on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights fell to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the MWC. The Foresters extended their winning streak to seven games, and are 7-1, 4-0.

St. Norbert never led, and fell behind by as many as 13 points at 33-20 with 1:36 left in the first half. The Green Knights cut the deficit to 33-26 at halftime on a conventional three-point play by Garrett Thorn and a 3-pointer by Andrew Schwoerer.

The Green Knights hung around in the second half, but couldn't quite get over the hump. St. Norbert got to within 38-36 with 11:28 left to play on a conventional three-point play by Schwoerer, but Lake Forest's Jeff Beck countered with a 3-pointer at 10:19 for a 41-36 advantage. St. Norbert got to within three points two more times, the last at 46-43 with 6:22 to go. James Stack's 3-pointer with 6:05 left started a 7-0 Lake Forest run over the next three minutes that decided the outcome.

St. Norbert made just 19 of 58 field goals. Thorn had 16 points and Schwoerer 14 points for the Green Knights, with those two going 10-for-16 from the floor. The rest of the squad was just 9-for-42 (21.4 percent) from the floor.

Lake Forest shot 45.8 percent (22-for-48) from the floor and was 9-for-18 from beyond the three-point arc. Stack had 16 points for the Foresters, while Beck had 14 points and Nate Bateman 13.
