St. Norbert Dropped by St. Mary's

WINONA, Minn. - Behind two third-period goals, St. Mary's University claimed a 3-2 win over St. Norbert College in a non-conference game at the St. Mary's Ice Arena.

The Green Knights, now 7-4-4 overall, are now 1-2-2 in their last five games. St. Mary's improved to 4-9-1.

St. Norbert held a 2-1 lead after two periods before the Cardinals stormed back in the third period. Austin Balko scored 2 minutes 37 seconds into the frame, and Nick Nagel scored the game-winning marker at the 12:58 mark. The Green Knights had a power play for the last 1:03 of the game and also had an extra attacker on for the last 40 seconds, but couldn't get the equalizer. A Johan Ryd shot toward a wide-open net was blocked by a St. Mary's player with about 30 seconds remaining.

St. Mary's scored a power-play goal 7:55 into the game when Nick Gorup scored for the Cardinals. The Green Knights answered later in the period on a goal by Joe Perry at 12:12 and a power-play score by Seth Soley at 17:15.

Neither team scored in the second period, as St. Mary's held an 11-4 shots advantage in the frame.

St. Norbert held a 34-29 shots-on-goal edge in the game. Travis Bosch made 26 saves for the Green Knights, while Jason Horstman turned away 32 shots for the Cardinals.
