St. Norbert Falls to Carthage

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - St. Norbert College lost to third-ranked Carthage College for the second time in as many days in a 10-4 loss at Florida College.

The Green Knights finish their season-opening Florida trip 6-3, while the Red Men are now an unblemished 10-0.

St. Norbert jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the first inning when a Cory Fuller RBI groundout drove in Adam Frost and Brett Birkholz's RBI single plated Mike Wallerich. Frost then stroked a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning for a 3-1 lead.

Carthage tied it 3-3 after five innings before breaking through for three runs in the sixth. Tony Rdzok's two run-single keyed the inning. The Red Men added three more runs in the eighth on Juan Acevedo's three-run home run to salt the game away.

Kyle Johnsen led St. Norbert at the plate, going 3-for-4. Frost, Birkholz and Jared Yost each had two hits. St. Norbert outhit Carthage 13-11.

Tony Jandron took the loss for the Green Knights, allowing 10 hits and nine runs in 7 1/3 innings.
