Green Knights Put Away Vikings

DE PERE - St. Norbert College won a Midwest Conference regular-season game on its home court for the 40th consecutive time in an 89-45 route of Lawrence University on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights, who have won 45 of their last 46 games against MWC foes, improved to 14-3 overall and 12-0 in the MWC. St. Norbert holds a three-game lead in the league with six games remaining thanks to Monmouth's 63-57 loss to Grinnell. Lawrence, 1-15 overall and 1-10 in the MWC, has lost 41 of its last 42 games.

The score was tied at 9-9 about 4 1/2 minutes into the game before the St. Norbert went on a 12-0 run to grab a 21-9 advantage with 11:57 left before halftime. The Green Knights closed the half on a 10-0 run in the last 3 minutes of the half to take a 52-21 lead at halftime.

St. Norbert substituted liberally in the second half and led by as many as 49 points.

Krista Pelky led St. Norbert with 21 points, five rebounds and five assists in 28 minutes to push her career scoring total to 1,051 points. Jamie Kuhl added 20 points and five rebounds. Lauren Carman added 11 points, while Tasha Giese had 10 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four blocks in 21 minutes. The Green Knights shot 53.6 percent (37-for-69) from the floor.

Lawrence was led by Chioma Ejimkonye's 11 points. The Vikings shot 28.1 percent (16-for-57) from the floor.
