Early Deficit Dooms St. Norbert

DULUTH, Minn. - St. Norbert College fell behind by three goals in the first 3 1/2 minutes of the game and couldn't recover in a 5-3 loss to the College of St. Scholastica in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Mars Lakeview Arena.
St. Norbert split a league series for the third consecutive weekend in falling to 8-12 overall and 6-9 in the NCHA. St. Scholastica improved to 11-5-3, 9-4-1.
Michelle Fischer, Monika Waidacher and Frankie Bergman all found the back of the net in the first 3:30 of the contest. Fischer slammed one home 26 seconds into the game, Waidacher followed at 1:58 and Bergman at 3:30.
The Green Knights rallied to close the deficit to within 3-2 at the end of the first period. Henriette Ostergaard scored at 15:21 and Tarraneh Dadgar followed at 19:25.
The Saints' Michelle Rebeck scored at 3:23 to push them ahead 4-2, but Tara Frey scored at 5:49 to bring the Green Knights to within 4-3 after two periods. Fischer scored a power-play goal at 2:39 of the third period however, and St. Norbert wouldn't score again.
St. Scholastica outshot St. Norbert 40-23. Kaley Gibson made 31 saves in a relief appearance for St. Norbert, while Sheridan Friesen made 20 stops for the Saints. St. Norbert was 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Saints were 1-for-3.
