St. Norbert Wins Ripon Invitational

RIPON - The St. Norbert College womens' track and field team captured the Sherman-Lukoski Invite championship at Ingalls Field in Ripon.

St. Norbert posted 167 points, to nip NCAA Division II Michigan Tech, which had 166 points. Ripon was third with 139 poitns.

The Green Knights cleaned up in the sprint events. Junior Ashley Graybill won the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Graybill won the 100 with a time of 13.22 seconds and followed that with a win in the 200 in 26.42 seconds.

Anne Mueller was second in the 100 (13.59 seconds), while Marisa Trakanovich was second in the 200 with a time of 28.05 seconds. Emily Sommers won the 400 with a time of 61.65 seconds, was third in the 200 in 28.67 seconds and was second in the javelin with a toss of 32.66 meters. Mueller added a win in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.55 seconds.

Jenny Scherer won the 5,000-meter run in a time of 18:30.41, and placed second in the 1,500 with a time of 5:07.01. Jenna Kick was third in the 5,000 (19:26.63), while Elizabeth Groshek was fourth in the 1,5000 at 5:13.16.

Kelsey Marsh placed in the top four in three field events. Marsh was second in the hammer throw with a heave of 36.70 meters, and was fourth in both the shot put (9.18 meters) and discus (28.40 meters).

St. Norbert won both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Graybill, Nikki Swanson, Mueller and Trakanovich won the 4x100 with a time of 51.70 seconds. Mueller, Swanson, Sommers and Trakanovich won the 4x400 with a time of 4:21.46.
