Green Knights Get Back to .500 WIth Win Over Marian

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College got back to .500 overall on the season with a 3-0 win over Marian University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Cornerstone Community Center's Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights are now 12-12 overall and 10-9 in the NCHA with their fourth-straight win. It was also St. Norbert's eighth triumph in its last 11 games. Marian fell to 1-20-3, 1-16-2.

St. Norbert jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Lotta Haarala finished off a power-play opportunity with a goal at the 5 minutes 29 seconds mark of the first period, with Danielle Rozon and Andrea Senne assisting. The Green Knights took two penalties after the goal, but St. Norbert scored shorthanded on the second infraction when Jade Popescul finished a breakaway unassisted for the 2-0 lead.

Following a scoreless second period, St. Norbert locked up the win with a Madeleine Siggelin power-play goal just 2:33 into the third. It was Siggelin's first collegiate goal, and Emma Agen and Henriette Ostergaard assisted.

St. Norbert outshot Marian 30-8, with the Sabres getting just two shots on goal in the final 40 minutes of action. Mandy Montgomery made eight saves to get the shutout for the Green Knights, while Amanda Alexander made 27 stops for Marian. St. Norbert was 2-for-3 on the power play, while Marian was 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
