St. Norbert Wins Fifth Straight With Sweep of Marian

FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College won for the fifth consecutive game with a 4-3 win over Marian University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Blue Line Family Ice Center.

The Green Knights (13-12, 11-9 NCHA) ended the regular season having won nine of their last 12 games. St. Norbert will enter the NCHA O'Brien Cup Playoffs as the No. 7 seeding, and will face UW-Superior in a quarterfinal series next weekend. Marian saw its season end 1-21-3, 1-17-2.

St. Norbert got the jump early, going ahead 2-0 in the first 6:15 of the game. The Green Knights got an unassisted goal from Danielle Rozon just 32 seconds into the game, and Andrea Sennse followed with her team-high ninth marker of the year at 6:15. Rozon and Jade Popescul assisted.

The Sabres answered late in the first period with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 15:33 by Alex DeBoer. St. Norbert countered with the only goal in the second period, a power-play goal by Zoe Kurth at 5:18 for a 3-1 lead.

Marian cut the deficit to 3-2 with a power-play score by Sophie Schieldt at 10:08 of the third period. St. Norbert got the eventual game-winner from Madeleine Siggelin with a power-play goal at 14:43. The Sabres scored a 6-on-4 extra-attacker power-play goal at 19:05 by Devan Lasch, but couldn't get the extra attacker on the ice again in the final 55 seconds and the Green Knights held on to win.

St. Norbert outshot Marian 41-20. The Sabres were 3-for-7 on the power play, while the Green Knights were 2-for-3. Katie Aluia made 17 saves for St. Norbert. Amanda Alexander made 29 saves in two periods for Marian, while Kaytlin Ruzicka made eight stops in relief.
