Green Knights Swept by Anderson on Opening Day

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - St. Norbert College suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Anderson (Ind.) University by scores of 10-4 and 6-4 at Polk State College.

The Green Knights (0-2) jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the opener, snapping a 1-1 tie with a two-run fourth. Chris Hillesheim's sacrifice fly in the second plated St. Norbert's first run, while Travis Mason's RBI single and Nick Pierre's RBI fielder's choice in the fourth scored a pair of runs. The Ravens (4-2) would counter with a three-run fourth, a single run in the fifth and a big five-run sixth to pull away.

Mason went 2-for-3 with a double, and Jordan Powers went 2-for-4. Troy Rottier took the loss for St. Norbert, allowing 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

St. Norbert took a 4-0 lead through four innings in the nightcap but couldn't hold the lead. Chad Ljunggren had an RBI groundout in the first inning, while Matt Hannon had a two-run single in the second. Hannon added an RBI fielder's choice in the fourth. Anderson would respond with two runs in the fifth and pull ahead with four runs on four hits in the sixth.

Hannon went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the nightcap to lead St. Norbert, which had just five hits in the game. Kevin Nutley took the loss, allowing 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings.
