Green Knights Salvage Split With Dickinson

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Norbert College got a big inning in the nightcap of a doubleheader with Dickinson College to salvage a split with the Red Devils at Lake Myrtle Field. The Green Knights dropped the opener 9-3 before taking game two 11-7.

The Green Knights (5-3) got seven runs in the bottom of the sixth in the nightcap to snap a 4-4 tie. Matt Hannon's three-run double snapped the tie, and Garrick Fisher added a two-run single later in the frame. Chad Ljunggren had an RBI groundout, and Troy Rottier finished the uprising with an RBI double.

St. Norbert had a 4-0 lead, scoring twice in each of the first two innings. Travis Mason had an RBI single, followed by an RBI single from Chris Laux in the first inning. Nick Pierre and Mason had RBI hits in the second inning.

Mason and Fisher both finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Hannon was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Josh Honzik picked up the win, allowing nine hits with one walk and two strikeouts in six innings.

In the opener, Dickinson (9-5) took a 7-0 lead through four innings and the Green Knights couldn't recover. St. Norbert scored twice in the ffith on a Ljunggren groundout and and Chris Hillesheim single. Hannon had an RBI groundout in the sixth.

Hillesheim was 3-for-4 in the game, while Hannon was 2-for-4. Rottier took the loss, allowing seven hits and six runs in three innings.
