Green Knights Finish Florida Trip With Third Straight Split

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - St. Norbert College split its doubleheader for the third consecutive day at the Rebel Spring Games. The Green Knights topped Austin College 8-7 before losing to Montclair State University 9-8.

The Green Knights (3-7) trailed 5-0 to Austin before scoring five times on six hits and two Kangaroos errors in the bottom of the third inning. Samantha Gross and Brittany Bauknecht had RBI singles, while three runs scored on a pair of Austin errors.

Austin came back to take a 6-5 lead before the Green Knights scored twice in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run double by Bauknecht. Austin's Suzanne Beltran tied the game at 7-7 with a solo home run in the seventh, but the Green Knights scored the game-winning run on a walk-off single by Brittany Narges to plate Steph Brunette.

St. Norbert pounded out 16 hits in the game. Bauknecht was 4-for-4 with three RBIs, while Ashtin Schmechel was 3-for-4. Brunette, Narges and Buboltz all had two hits apiece, while Narges had two RBIs.

Morgan Rusch earned the win in relief, allowing five hits and two runs in five innings.

Against Montclair State, the Green Knights held an 8-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning before the Red Hawks scored six runs in a wild finish to steal the victory.
