DE PERE - St. Norbert College junior Shannen Schmidt spun a three-hit shutout to lead the Green Knights to a 1-0 win over UW-Oshkosh in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader at Mel Nicks Field. Oshkosh won the opening game 10-2.

The Green Knights (5-11) benefited from the performance turned in by Schmidt, who did not walk a batter and struck out six. The Titans did not get a runner to third base in the game and did not have an extra-base hit.

St. Norbert got its lone run in the first inning and Schmidt made the lead stand up the rest of the way. Steph Brunette singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Following a strikeout, Morgan Buboltz's RBI single plated Brunette.

Buboltz finished the nightcap 2-for-4 for the Green Knights, who had just four hits off losing pitcher Julie Sweeney.

Oshkosh (12-8) scored in five of its six innings in the opener and pounded out 13 hits to claim the victory. The Titans led 7-0 before the Green Knights scored twice in the fourth inning. Samantha Gross was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Brunette was 2-for-3.
