St. Norbert Earns Key Win Over Carroll

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College ground out three three-set wins in singles action to pull out a key Midwest Conference North Division win by a 5-4 score over Carroll University at Western Racquet.

The Green Knights (5-11, 2-0 MWC North) will clinch a berth in the MWC Team Tournament if they beat Lawrence University in the regular-season finale on Sunday, or lose by no worse than a 5-4 score to the Vikings.

Tim Hartwick (No. 2), Matt Lobeck (No. 3) and Josh Sweere (No. 5) all ground out three-set wins to help the Green Knights to the team victory.

Hartwick topped Mathew Zellner 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, while Lobeck won 7-6, 4-6, 6-2. Sweere rallied from a first-set loss to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Derek Harrington and Nick Acosta picked up St. Norbert's lone doubles point with a 9-8 win over Zellner and John Silseth at the No. 1 flight. Nate Gosz's win over Frankie Giuffre 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles was St. Norbert's other win.
