St. Norbert Finishes in Second-Place Tie at MWC Championship

ROCKFORD, Ill. - St. Norbert College couldn't hold on to a second-round lead and finished in a tie for second place at the Midwest Conference Championship held at Aldeen Golf Course.

The Green Knights finished the 54-hole tournament with a 315-304-320 for a 939 total, matching Monmouth College's score. Carroll University repeated as league champion with a total of 925, including a final-round 304.

It marked the eighth time St. Norbert - which has never won a MWC golf title - has finished in second place at the league championship. St. Norbert coach Tripp Maher was named MWC Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the meet.

Brandon Gries led St. Norbert with a sixth-place tie finish. Gries shot 78-78-79 for a total of 235. Evan Mass finished in ninth place with an 81-78-77--236. Joe Martin finished in a tie for tenth place with an 84-74-79--237. Vrubley matched Martin's 237 with round of 78-74-85. All four players earned All-MWC honors.

Jacob Hebbard added a tie for 22nd place with a 78-86-85--249. Eric Voss finished in a tie for 28th place with an 85-84-87--256.
