St. Norbert Sits in Fifth Place After First Day of MWC Outdoor Meet

DE PERE - St. Norbert College is in fifth place after the first day of the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship held at Kolstad Field at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights have totaled 22 points to sit in fifth place. Monmouth College leads with 70 points, while Knox College is in second with 30 points, Carroll University is third with 28 and Lawrence University is fourth with 23 points.

Mike Verfuerth won the long jump with a distance of 24 feet and 3/4 inch to give the Green Knights their lone conference champion of the day.

Patrick Sweetman was third in the javelin throw with a toss of 158-6, while Bob Krueger was seventh with a distance of 144-10.

Andrew Jacobson was seventh in the long jump at 22-1. Nathan Heppe added a seventh-place finish in the 1,500-meter run at 4:05.31.
